While our membership is as varied as the colors of the glazes we use, our common bond is a love of clay!
Potters' Guild of Las Cruces "Empty Bowls" is 25 years old!
This year we celebrate 25 years of organizing local potters into an active group of socially conscious mudders. Guild members are looking forward to another very busy year, including a schedule that includes a major exhibition, a massive weekend workshop extravaganza, two fund raisers and a large end-of-the-year sale.
Activities will begin again soon with monthly meetings and demonstrations or discussions by our many talented members. Membership forms can be downloaded from this site and dues are to be collected this month. Join us for another year of "everything pottery" and get involved by joining the Board of Directors or hosting a meeting. Long live clay life!
In the image below, members visited the La Luz Clay Products Pottery Factory just outside Alamogordo, New Mexico on a beautiful day last January. This historic site was donated to the Tularosa Basin Historical Society for long term preservation and interpretation. The "Pottery" produced Spanish-style red barrel Mission tiles and other pots, vases, bowls, floor tiles and even bells!
The group's goals are:
- To provide a forum for learning and discussion
- To foster the education of the arts
- To organize workshops about clay
- To sponsor exhibitions and sales of our members' work
- To promote community service
